LSPD JOB FAIR

  • On Sunday the 31th of January the Los Santos Police Department hosted a job fair inside the main hangar at Los Santos International Airport for all interested civilians in the State. At this job fair, the Los Santos Police Department was represented by members of various divisions the Los Santos Police Department offers. The intention of the job fair was to offer interested civilians the chance to see Los Santos Police Department equipment and personnel from up close, as well as multiple courses on both basic life services and scene management.

Civilians interested in joining the Los Santos Police Department were able to talk to Police Officers that represented the Recruitment and Employment Division, whose duties it is to guide applicants through the application process and train the accepted applicants at their Police Academy, as well as members of the Field Training and Advanced Training Division that offered them an insight into how a career in the Los Santos Police Department starts. Attendees were also able to learn about the various branches of the Department by talking to members of the General Operations Bureau, Vinewood Traffic Division, Detective Bureau, and Metropolitan Division, who were present with much of their equipment for demonstration.

Interested civilians were also able to feel like a real Police Officer in the making by being able to sit in on a ride-along in the helicopter flown by Air Support Division personnel, as well as in a High Speed Interception Unit. With all corners of the Department represented, civilians were able to learn a lot about what the LSPD has to offer, and what a career with us is like.

OFFICER OF THE MONTH

Each month, one officer is selected by our Police Supervisors to receive this most prestigious award. This award is an overall congratulation for universal commitment, achievement, and excellence throughout the department. An officer who achieves this award is an exemplary member of the department who should be looked up to as an inspiration and role-model.

Police Detective I Samuel Martin joined the Los Santos Police Department in November 2019. He has since worked himself up to a Detective position in the coveted Gang and Narcotics Division, where he works diligently to combat gang violence in the city. While always around and active, Detective Martin impressed even more so this month with an average of 42 hours on shift per week. Additionally, Detective Martin was prolific in terms of paperwork, making no less than 215 entries in the database over the month of January; more than an entry every hour he spent on shift.

In addition to being part of the Gang and Narcotics Division, Detective Martin regularly supports the patrolling officers from above as a Pilot First Class in the Air Support Division, a position he rose to quickly and with dedication. Detective Martin is also a part of the Field Training Division, where he teaches new Cadets the ropes of the job. He is always ready to assist his fellow officers, both on the ground and in the air, and generally gets along very well with his peers and subordinates. All this is cause for being awarded with the Officer of the Month award.

We are very proud of what Detective Martin has achieved so far and are looking forward to what the future holds for him. As a reward, Detective Martin will be awarded with a salary increase through the month February.

FEATURED DIVISION

  • For January 2021 we will be featuring the Recruitment & Employment Division. The Recruitment and Employment Division or RED falls under the Administrative Services Bureau. RED is the division that new applicants to the Los Santos Police Department will likely encounter first. Overall, RED is split into two groups. The first one being Application Handlers and Interviewers, and the latter being Academy Instructors.

Application Handlers and Interviewers are the ever diligent individuals behind the screen who are constantly reviewing the gargantuan amount of applications received by the LSPD. These individuals are comprised of only the most capable officers holding the rank of Police Officer II and above. Following up on them, would be the Interviewers who bring applicants in for a face-to-face interview in order to get to know them better. This position is very selective, only accepting those holding the rank of Police Officer III and above.

Academy Instructors are the friendly men and women ready to teach and assist applicants on their first day in the Department. Once they are sworn in as Law Enforcement Officers, these instructors will teach them all they need to know for their first day on the job. The position requires an officer to be quite experienced, which is why the position is restricted to the rank of Police Officer II and above.

RED is currently being led by Police Captain Kilo Crosby as its Commanding Officer, alongside Police Sergeant II Grace Hunter as its Assistant Commanding Officer. Supervising them, would be Deputy Chief of Police Ashley York, Director of the Administrative Services Bureau. The Commanding Officers of RED has the following to state:
We are excited about the new team members we have brought to the Recruitment and Employment division. We have been expanding our team to accommodate for the influx of applications along with making modifications and adding additional topics to our academy process to meet the increasing needs of applicants. We cannot wait to see what 2021 has in store for us!
    `
RED currently has a large ever-growing team, ready to serve the interested public in joining the Department. A division with very high merit due to the nature of the work it conducts. We wish the entirety of RED the best of luck in reviewing the upcoming applications and guiding the newly inducted applicants during their academy!

FEATURED EMPLOYEE

  • Police Officer III Thomas Pennyworth initially arrived in Los Santos in 2019 from the United Kingdom, having built a career at the Downtown Cab Co. until the rank of Chief Operational Officer. Officer Pennyworth retired from their employment at DCC in 2020, making it their goal to become part of the Los Santos Police Department next. After moving through the Academy process, Officer Pennyworth is now looking at 7th months in the force.

Day to day, Officer Pennyworth regularly focuses on traffic enforcement as a proud member of the Vinewood Traffic Division. Taking part in regular speed traps, ensuring the motorists of Los Santos are able to enjoy their commute safely, as well as providing scene management for police scenes, allowing traffic to commence as usual without interruption. Officer Pennyworth is also very dedicated to the Firearms Licensing Division as a senior member, contributing to healthy changes in the division and ensuring the licensing of weapons in the state of San Andreas are done without any discrepancies.

One of their highlighted moments in the month of January was their upgrade to the rank of Police Officer III. Having worked hard for the position, they were deemed to be experienced enough and worthy enough of their new responsibilities. One of the new responsibilities is the ability to deploy Motorcycle Response Units (MRU), which consists of the Hakuchou motorcycle and the BF400 motorcycle. Officer Pennyworth is very familiar with motorcycles, having been certified for use of the standard police bike within the Vinewood Traffic Division, and previously being one of the founding members of the Los Santos Motorcycle Club.

As for future goals in the department, Officer Pennyworth hopes to one day soar in the skies with the Air Support Division. Previously being part of the RAF in the United Kingdom, it is not unlikely to see Officer Pennyworth flying once more, providing over-watch for our officers on the ground. We wish Officer Pennyworth the best of luck in fulfilling their ambitions with the Los Santos Police Department.

FEATURED EVENT

  • Operating a Chop Shop - Capital Boulevard
    From Week Report 2103
At around 1500, the Downtown Cab Company reported one of their work vehicles as stolen and issued a list of potential suspects. During the investigation of the occurrence the vehicle was tracked down to La Mesa, Capital Boulevard - a secluded location where people strip stolen vehicles of parts and sell them for profit. Patrol units coordinated response to the 'chop shop' as the suspect fled the compound with the stolen vehicle.

The vehicle in mind, a yellow XLS, was operated by a known felon from the Downtown Cab Company's blacklist. The driver took off, managing to evade law enforcement for a mere three blocks before being brought to a stop on Davis Avenue. The vehicle was recovered safely and the suspect sustained no injuries. Several other charges were pressed by Downtown Cab Company workers. Two other individuals were arrested in association to the main suspect for assisting them to locate the chop shop and operate it.
