On an otherwise quiet Monday-evening, 20th of October 2020, at circa 8:10 PM, the Los Santos Police Department received an alert sent out by the alarm of the Fleeca bank located on Boulevard Del Perro, which had been triggered by one of its employees. Upon their arrival at the location, the units that were first on scene informed all responding units that there was a dark green Merryweather Mesa parked in front of the entrance of the bank, a crucial piece of information that served as a fair indicator that the perpetrators were still present inside or around the building. Moments later, the Police Officers present on-scene had discovered that the perpetrators were still inside of the bank with a hostage. The D Platoon (commonly referred to as "SWAT") of LSPD's METRO subsequently deployed and arrived mere minutes later.

After roughly 15 dreadful minutes of negotiation between the Los Santos Police Department and the two perpetrators inside of the bank, the LSPD's negotiator ultimately followed through with the demands of lowering their weapons and placing the Merryweather Mesa in an easily accessible manner made by the perpetrators. These demands were met to preserve the life of the hostage and to prevent any and all possible further physical and/or mental harm following the negotiation, during which the perpetrators had stated that they would release the hostage if these demands were met.

Following their demands being met, the two perpetrators, one of which was carrying a duffle bag later found to be filled with the stolen money, made their way out of the front doors of the bank and entered their vehicle, leaving the hostage behind in the bank. As our Police Officers wasted no time moving into the bank to secure the hostage, the perpetrators attempted to flee the scene The Police Officers present on-scene outside of the bank, after ensuring that it was safe to do so, opened fire upon the vehicle in an attempt to disable it.

Despite the efforts of the Police Officers, the attempt to disable the vehicle failed after which a pursuit was initiated on the vehicle. The perpetrators were pursued throughout the city until they made an attempt to utilize the underground tunnel system to their advantage to aid their escape from law enforcement. After entering the tunnel system on Del Perro Freeway, the pursuit came to a quick end as the perpetrators hit stationary machinery, resulting in the vehicle being stalled and the unfortunate injury of the passenger who, as a result of the impact, was flung out of the vehicle. The vehicle itself spun out and was quickly surrounded and blocked in.

Following the injury of one of the perpetrators, the Los Santos Emergency Medical Services were contacted as Police Officers applied basic first aid. Other Police Officers present swiftly apprehended the second perpetrator and recovered the duffle bag containing the stolen money. At circa 8:45 PM, both perpetrators made it out of this situation alive and well, and were brought to justice thanks to the efforts of both the Los Santos Police Department and the Los Santos Emergency Medical Services, and their employees respectively.

Exactly $290,000.00 in stolen money was recovered and returned to the bank by Police Detectives following the apprehension of the two perpetrators. The hostage, who shall remain anonymous, was interviewed and assessed by Police Officers after being rescued from the bank and had shared that they had been taken to the bank against their will after attempting to hitch a ride with a passing vehicle. The person who had been taken hostage is alive and well and was cleared to return to their home by the end of the night.

Whilst this situation ended with the person taken hostage being alive and well after a swift rescue, the aforementioned situation could have ended extremely adversely, but fortunately did not due to the efforts of Police Officers on-scene and LSPD METRO's D Platoon. We urge you to use this as a learning experience and perhaps an eyeopener - please be wary of who you were stepping in a vehicle with. If something feels off, do not be afraid to ask for help or to dial 911 to get in touch with the Los Santos Emergency Services.
