In the late night hours of this Thursday, January the 23rd, LSPD Officers observed automatic gunfire originating from an underground parking garage in the Rockford Hills east of Backlot City. Over a dozen units responded, arriving on scene within minutes of the first observed shooting. Upon entering the parking garage, Officers encountered about a dozen gang-affiliated vehicles along with 7 injured gang members and several deceased persons. Officers secured the scene and began rendering aid to those injured civilians while waiting for medics to arrive.
Once medics arrived, Officers began coordinating with them the treatment of the injured criminals. Thanks to the efficient work of the LSEMS, almost all of them were stabilized and loaded into ambulances. With a police escort, six (6) suspects were brought to the Central Medical Department where they were treated and later picked up by LSPD Officers to be transported to the Department of Corrections.
The people found on scene were exclusively members of the gang known as the West Coast Assassins. Due to the nature of the encounter, all people present on scene were considered suspects. The suspects were detained and searched prior to being treated in order to protect Officers on scene as well as the medics when they arrived. Vehicles present on scene were also searched before being impounded. During these searches, searches, illegal weapons, illegal ammunition, and illegal weapon modifications were seized and sent into evidence, along with nineteen (19) unlicensed handguns, which were returned to their respective owners if possible.
Thanks to the observant Officers who called in the shots fired, lives were saved, criminals were brought off the street, and their weapons destroyed. We commend the bravery of the Officers who moved towards the sound of automatic weapons and located the source within minutes of the first reported gunfire. The streets are that much safer now than they were before.
