Grand Theft Auto - Mirror Park
At 1130 an interdepartmental BOLO is created by LSSD notifying city officers of a stolen vehicle actively evading law enforcement heading from the county down to the city. The described vehicle, a grey Deviant, was seen passing the City Hall and heading into Mirror Park where a traffic stop was initiated. Additional units arrived on scene and the driver subsequently bolted off, immediately losing control of the vehicle and landing in the sewage system below Mirror Park. The suspects shortly evaded before losing control and wiping out on the walls over the sewers. They were met with force and surrendered immediately, showing no restraint.

The suspects were apprehended, the vehicle was returned to the respective owner and no injuries occurred before, during, or after the pursuit. One suspect was charged with one count of evading and Grand Theft Auto while the other suspect received accessory charges for the previously mentioned breaches. In less than 10 minutes of the vehicle being stolen and it being reported as such, it was recovered safely along with the assailants.

The suspects evaded for several miles, driving at dangerous speeds up into the Tataviam Mountains near the Land Act Reservoir. Officers were standing by ahead of them and deployed spike strips which successfully punctured the tires of the fleeing vehicle. The driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a barrier at low speed, before being boxed in. Neither the driver nor the passenger were hurt in the crash, and both were apprehended successfully without further resistance.

Upon searching the vehicle, Officers located a crate in the trunk which contained a baggie of weed. The baggie contained 7 grams of the drug, in addition to some seeds, which were confiscated. Neither suspect claimed responsibility for the baggie. The baggie was brought to the station for further investigation, which revealed that the fingerprints matched to the passenger of the vehicle. Both were charged with evading and the passenger with possession, and the vehicle was impounded.
