  • Gang war on the streets
    -
Late last month, a gang war seems to have erupted between virtually all notable criminal organizations that reside in our city. The reasoning is unclear as of right now, however, the results are very clear to everyone involved. There have been dozens of arrests made in connection to large scale shootouts, and a great amount of casualties was felt on both sides. Multiple law enforcement officials lost their lives in the conflict.

If you find yourself in close proximity to such an event, we advise you to get to a safe distance and call 911. Do not attempt to approach or render aid to any of the victims, as the gangs are known to shoot everyone approaching on sight. If you are a licensed firearm holder, you are also advised to not approach and await emergency service response.

The Director of the Investigations Bureau, who supervises the Gangs and Narcotics Division declined to comment on the situation, and on any plans to bring the conflict to an end, citing the need for secrecy in such matters.

OFFICER OF THE MONTH, SEPTEMBER 2020

    -
Each month, ONE officer is selected by our Police Supervisors to receive this most prestigious award. This award is an overall congratulation for universal commitment, achievement, and excellence throughout the department. An officer who achieves this award is an exemplary member of the department and someone who should be looked up to as an inspiration and role-model.

Police Officer II Roderick Marchisio has been selected as the September Officer of the Month. Officer Marchisio was chosen based on his extraordinary efforts and contributions during the past month. He has been with us since June, when he graduated the academy on the 12th. He passed the Field Training Program and was promoted to Police Officer I on the 23rd of July. Just this month, Officer Marchisio transferred to the newly opened La Mesa precinct. He was promoted just days ago to the rank of Police Officer III, reflecting the effort and excellence that qualifies him for this award.

Earlier this month, Officer Marchisio joined the Field Training Division himself, and has completed 6 total training activities and is reportedly a helpful addition to the team. He is recognized for the quality of the great amount of optional paperwork he submitted during the month, which will go on to serve as important documentation in administration and investigation. Officer Marchisio has also notably been a helpful presence in the field, working hard to assist others and to serve the community.

We congratulate Officer Marchisio on his achievements and wish him well on his journey with us. He will be awarded with a salary increase for the duration of the month.
