We've put yet another month behind us as we enter October, moving into the autumn season of 2019.

During the month of September, we have seen many people come and go within our department, and I believe that it goes without saying that we greatly appreciate the time and effort each and every one of the retired Officers have put into working within our department, and into protecting and serving the city of Los Santos.

With recent departures, we have also seen the appointment of several long-serving employees into leadership positions within their respective divisions. As such, I would like to congratulate Sergeant Mary Dinkley on her appointment as the new Commanding Officer of the Traffic Enforcement Division, and with that, also her newly appointed Assistant Commanding Officer, Sergeant Robert Jeys. I would also like to congratulate Sergeant Scott Dunbar and Senior Lead Officer Zoey Deul with their appointments as the Commanding Officer and Assistant Commanding Officer of our Basic Training Division, taking on the responsibility of preparing our future Cadets through the form of police academies.

Lastly, I'd like to take a moment to congratulate all newly promoted Sergeants on successfully passing our department's Supervisor Training Program. We have the utmost faith in our new Sergeants and their ability to supervise, educate and motivate our Police Officers.

For those who are interested in a possible career as a Police Officer with the Los Santos Police Department, we currently have an on-going recruitment drive with limited vacancies, so make sure you submit your application!

  • Police Officer II Brianna Bacon was born and raised in the Golden State. She recently made the short move to Los Santos for the purpose of pursuing a career with the Los Santos Police Department. She had first been in Los Santos on a visit where she befriended a Police Sergeant with the LSPD, who offered to take her on a ride-along. She eventually went on several more ride-along sessions, and, according to Officer Bacon, the experiences she had with the Officers of the LSPD and the situations she had been present to had a great impact on her life. She says that the ride-along sessions she went on have taught her a lot about not only being a Police Officer but about herself.

This was what led to her to decide to apply to the Department and to prepare to make the move to Los Santos for good. Fortunately, she was accepted, passed through the interview process, and graduated from her Police Academy, and started her first day of work as a Cadet on the 17th of June this year. She passed the Field Training Programme in good time and has since been promoted to the rank of Police Officer II, a rank she has held since the 30th of July.

Officer Bacon’s goal while working with the Department has been to help make a change to the city, in the form of discouraging gang-related crime and keeping the citizens safe from the city’s high crime rates. She finds happiness and pride in dedicating her life to the service of the people, which she achieves by being a first responder to the many dangerous scenes we encounter in Los Santos.
Brianna’s favorite part of being a Police Officer is to teach the new Police Cadets about the Department and how to become a good Officer. She spends most of her patrol hours on partner patrols and enjoys making friends. Her proudest feature is showing up to work every day with a positive attitude, which is something few can honestly say, and an important part of her mission to make Los Santos a better place.

Officer Bacon is committed to the department and is working hard to progress into a supervisory position. She is interested in joining the Investigations Bureau when she is eligible. We all wish her the best in her future with the LSPD and the IB.

The Los Santos Police Department, San Andreas Sheriff's Department, Department of Corrections, and Los Santos EMS work together on Senora Freeway in Los Santos County

At around 17:30 this past Thursday. October 3rd, the Los Santos Police Department received a distress call over the departmental radio from the San Andreas Sheriff's Department, reporting Officers surrounded by multiple gang members and shots fired. Several LSPD units arrived on scene within two minutes.

Deputies had been transporting a higher profile felon to the Department of Corrections when the gang members surrounded them and attempted to halt the convoy. According to Deputies, the vehicle transporting the felon had already arrived inside the gates of Bolingbroke Penitentiary when the confrontation started.

Upon LSPD arrival to the scene, shots were being exchanged on Senora Freeway outside of the prison between the gang members and Deputies of the Sheriff’s Department, assisted by Correctional Officers of the DOC. In the ensuing action, several Deputies and suspects were struck. Officers held their ground and the aggressors retreated into the hills across the highway.

The LSPD, SASD, and DOC worked together to secure the scene for the arrival of the Los Santos Emergency Medical Services. In the early morning hours, the southbound shoulder and outside lane of the Senora Freeway were closed as Medics worked to help those hit in the firefight. Despite the best efforts of everyone on scene, two (2) Deputies and several suspects were lost.

The LSPD would like to thank the SASD, the DOC, and the LSEMS for their valiant work, and extend its condolences to those affected by the unfortunate loss of the two Deputies.

Field Training Program - September Update
    Image
    Dear Field Training Officers,

The month of September was a lot quieter compared to August besides one major change. The whole program was reduced by one FTP as a collaboration between FTP and BTD Command. Most of the classroom material was handed off to BTD while FTP took on the practical elements from academies.

Throughout the month of September, 50 unique FTP sessions and 31 formal observations were conducted meaning that there were 81 formal interactions with Cadets throughout September.

Additionally, we have also had to part with the following member(s) of the Investigations Bureau. Farewell!
      • Jason Steel

      Image
As most of you are aware, the Investigations Bureau has taken quite a big hit with the resignations that have been filed recently. With the resignations that were filed, we have had to part ways with Detective Jason Steel and Detective Damien Blix.

As a result of these resignations, we had to look at all possible and viable solutions to ensure that the Investigations Bureau would thrive again without taking as long as it took before - as the numbers that we once had but lost due to the aforementioned resignations and resignations before that took over two years to obtain. After going back and forth for a while, we came to the conclusion to bring someone in from the outside.

Captain Daniels Shelby has since been appointed as the Investigations Bureau Coordinator, taking on the responsibility of assisting me with overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Investigations Bureau. With the appointment of Captain Shelby, Detective Logan Cross and Detective Xoza Shadow have also assumed a position within the Investigations Bureau Command Team.

Congratulations to all three newly appointed Investigations Bureau Command Members - I have the utmost faith that as a team we will be able to move towards a bright future.
      Image

      • A combined total of 31 Investigation Patrol Logs have been posted.
      • A total of 42 illegal weapons have been seized.
      Image
On a final note, we would like to thank you all for reading through the fourteenth monthly Investigations Bureau update post. We greatly appreciate all the work every single one of you puts in every day to make the Investigations Bureau successful.
Once again, congratulations to all those who got promoted, and keep up the good work!

Air Support Division Update - September 2019
      "TO PROTECT AND SERVE"

      • Division Update

        Hello Pilots!
Welcome to the Thirteenth update of the Air Support Division. With everything that's changed, we'll try to keep this short. With Sergeant Avens departure, I have been appointed Commanding Officer of ASD. I have already initiated a few changes and there will be several more to come in association with some of the great ideas Sergeant Avens had he was working on.

First, starting today, while promotions and permissions in the division will be based on logged hours, we will be removing the hourly requirement. If you don't fly for a while however, you will be required to recertify every few months before you can fly again. Pilots will now be active, or inactive and any situation or training can qualify as a recertification.

Congratulations to Zoey Deul as our featured Pilot! They have logged 37 hours with an average of 24 hours over their ASD career. They have been offered and taken a position as our Assistant Commander.

A total of 140 hours have been logged this month, almost a 10 hour increase of our last month. As a pilot you offer an important role to our officers on the ground. Look out for each one and fly safe!
